One of the advantages of playing for the Brno Lions is the opportunity to combine competitive hockey with a university education in the heart of Brno. The city is home to several respected universities, many of which offer degree programs taught in English and welcome international students.
For Brno Lions student-athletes, NEWTON University offers an especially strong combination of academics, flexibility, and student-athlete-friendly scheduling. Its Global Business and Management bachelor's program was designed with a practical approach to education and provides a schedule that allows students to balance university studies with hockey training, competition, and travel.
While NEWTON is the university we currently highlight for Brno Lions student-athletes, players are not limited to this option. Brno is a major university city with a wide range of academic programs, and students who have a specific academic interest may also explore other universities and programs that meet their individual goals.
NEWTON University
NEWTON University is a modern private university focused on business, management, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Its Global Business and Management bachelor's program is taught entirely in English and provides students with a practical, internationally focused education.
For student-athletes, one of NEWTON's biggest advantages is its flexible class schedule. Classes are organized across three days per week, with one day of online lectures and two days of on-campus seminars. The schedule can be arranged to accommodate training, making it possible for students to pursue their degree while competing at a high level.
The Brno campus is located in Technology Park Brno, with convenient public transportation access to the city center. The university also offers a smaller-group learning environment and opportunities for students to develop professional skills through mentoring, networking, leadership development, and other activities.
