Saturday: Lions 5, Guardians 1 — Lužánky gets the night it waited for
The Brno Lions' first-ever home game could hardly have gone better. Under the lights at Sportcentrum Lužánky, the Lions scored on the power play, scored shorthanded, and took a 5–0 lead before the Guardians found the net with 14 seconds left.

First period: KOBAYASHI MAKES HISTORY WITH THE FIRST GOAL IN LIONS FRANCHISE HISTORY
The opening 20 minutes were tight and chippy, with eight penalties called. The Lions made the most of their first real chance. With Ryan Naughton in the box for interference, forward Chris Kobayashi (#88) fired home at 11:26, set up by Danny Ro and Parker Carrabba. 1–0 Lions, and Lužánky had its first home goal.
Tempers flared at 14:34, when four players went to the box for roughing at once. The Lions held their lead into the intermission.
Second period: the shorthanded dagger
The goal of the night came with the Lions a man down. With James Cybart serving a holding minor, Chad Niederman (#24) went the other way and scored unassisted at 28:22. A shorthanded goal is a momentum killer, and this one doubled the lead and stood as the game winner.
Five minutes later the power play struck again. With Sacha Jolin off for tripping, Danny Ro (#23) finished a Carrabba feed at 33:41. 3–0 after two.
Third period: Carrabba takes over
Parker Carrabba (#10) put the game away. He scored at 41:37 off passes from Adam Krasny and Raphael Landry, then added his second at 53:38, again set up by Landry. 5–0.
The game boiled over at 46:18. Krasny and Jolin were each handed five-minute majors and automatic game misconducts.
Goaltender Matthew Pimentel (#30) was chasing a shutout in his home debut and came within 14 seconds of it. Alexis Roy beat him at 59:46 for the Guardians' only goal. Pimentel finished with 26 saves on 27 shots and was named the Lions' star of the game.

Sunday: Lions 7, Guardians 5 — Carrabba's hat trick seals the sweep
Less than 16 hours after the final horn in Brno, the Lions were back on the ice in Prague. They came out flying, led 4–0 after one period, and had an answer every time the Guardians pushed. The Lions outshot their hosts 42–30.

First period: four goals, four different scorers
The Lions needed under three minutes. With Emmitt Guest in the box, defenceman Ashton Duchini (#13) scored on the power play at 2:50.
At 4:12 Raphael Landry (#92) was awarded a penalty shot when Memfis Burgeson was called for interference. He buried it. 2–0.
Parker Carrabba made it 3–0 on another power play at 11:01. Then Jack Huyber (#6) jumped into the play at 15:47, finishing a move from Carrabba and Chris Kobayashi. 4–0 after 20 minutes, and the Prague bench was quiet.
Second period: the Guardians push, Huyber pushes back
Prague came out of the room with nothing to lose. Alexis Roy scored twice on the power play, at 20:59 and 25:13, to cut it to 4–2.
The Lions steadied themselves at four-on-four. Huyber took a Carrabba pass and scored his second of the day at 30:39, restoring the three-goal cushion at 5–2.
Third period: answer after answer
Carrabba made it 6–2 just 17 seconds into the third. The assist went to goaltender Yoan Pavesio (#31), who started the play from his own crease. That goal stood as the game winner.
The Guardians would not go away. Roy completed his hat trick three seconds later, and Prague added a power-play goal at 46:06 and another from Liam Simerson at 50:50. With nine minutes left, it was 6–5 and the home crowd was on its feet.
Carrabba took the air out of the building 53 seconds later. He scored unassisted at 51:43 for the hat trick and a 7–5 lead. The Lions killed off a late tripping penalty to Landry and closed it out.
Sunday's numbers
- Carrabba: 3 goals, 2 assists, 5 points.
- Huyber: 2 goals.
- Seven Lions on the scoresheet: Carrabba, Huyber, Duchini, Landry, Kobayashi, Pavesio and captain Jaxsen Healey, who added two assists. Defencemen scored three of the seven goals.
- Shots: Lions 42, Guardians 30. Faceoffs: Lions 27–21.
- Penalty shot: Landry, 1 for 1.
- Credit to Prague: Alexis Roy finished with 3 goals and 1 assist.
Player of the weekend: Parker Carrabba (#10)
Nine points in two games. Carrabba scored 5 goals, added 4 assists, and had a hand in 9 of the Lions' 12 goals this weekend. He scored on the power play, at even strength and when the game was on the line. His third goal on Sunday, 53 seconds after the Guardians had pulled within one, was the moment of the weekend.
"It's a great way to start the season, and I'm proud of how the guys competed in both buildings," said head coach Robert. "But we still have a lot to learn. Discipline is the big one. We gave Prague too many chances on the power play, and that's on us to clean up. Now we keep the momentum going and keep pushing."
